Domestic Activities
Last night, I made chicken stock and Marissa guided me through the process of freezing string beans. She had bought several pounds from the Farmer's Market. Yummy. I had been eating them raw for a couple of days before we finally got around to blanching them. I hadn't eaten a crispy garden-fresh bean in a long time.
I now have renewed interest in canning. Last year, I tried to can my chicken stock using the boiling method. It was a mess. I swore that I would not can anymore chicken stock until I got a pressure cooker. But now I have that giant steamer that Aunt Diane bought me and, even better, I have Marissa's tutalege. I would like to get canning down so that I can do tomatoes, potatoes, peaches and lots of stock over the next year. Marissa has recommended that I go ahead and get a canner. Basically, I just need a basket to hold the jars to fit inside my steamer.

I had an idea while I was in the bathtub last december. It involved "canning" certain gases for sale to gag/joke shops. I think I figured out the best way to do it but decided it probably wasn't going to be profitable.

Dear Jacob,
I am really sorry you didn't follow through with you scheme. I know of at least three boys who would have paid BIG bucks for them cans and I even have a catchy name -- Whoop Ass.
