Wet 'N Wild
We are quite the spontaneous family. Around 12:00 PM yesterday, I met with Marissa and Theo at Jeffery's on the Market for a make-up lunch date. I mentioned a little idea I had about going to a waterpark this weekend. Around 2:30 PM, I called Joel to discuss and by 6:30 PM, we were on the road to Greensboro, NC and the Wet 'N Wild waterpark. We spent the night at a hotel to get an earlier start at the park the next day. There were insanely long lines for rides and food...but the babies and toddlers areas were perfect. Theo went on the Lazy River twice. Aidan and I even went on one of those jump in a tube and shoot down a curvy slide rides. Mostly, Aidan and Theo spashed around in the 1 foot deep Happy Harbor kiddie area. Theo liked to crawl around in water and bat at the fountains. Aidan loved the slides, the fountains and this submarine playhouse thing. Joel and Marissa even braved the lines to go down the Twin Twisters -- really tall black tubes that twisted around each other. Marissa just told me that they climbed 7-8 flights of stairs to get to the top.
I would go back, but I would do things differently. First, I would go on a Tuesday and I'd get there early so that I could rent a large locker. I would also rent a cabana so that I would have a guaranteed seat in the shade. I would bring a picnic lunch, an extra change of clothes, water shoes and a waterproof disposable camera. I'd forget the towels. Finally, I'd like to have the kids there, but I would prefer to arrive in a separate vehicle. The trip between Roanoke and Greensboro is 2 hours one way. In that short distance, Theo yakked twice. Aidan yakked, hacked up 1/2 a lung and had a pee pee accident in his car seat. Mama, Daddy, Aidan and Theo all had numerous temper tantrums. It really is a wonder that Marissa hasn't run away by now.

Aidan might remember it for quite a while. During the week is always better if you can get time off. You need a crazy day once an awhile.
