Back Online

It finally occurred to me how I could update you without having to edit a page on our family website. A BLOG!! Never thought that I would do one. Never say Never, huh?

Today, we are diligently working on our bathroom remodeling project. "We" meaning Marissa and me. Joel has been minding the children. Last weekend, Marissa and I removed the wallpaper. We used spray-on enzyme to remove the glue. It was very quick and easy. It took us an hour tops. Marissa says that she, TJ and Leia stripped wallpaper without chemical assistance. While they may be healthier with stronger arm muscles because of it, I think that they are CRAZY!! To TJ: It's worth the $5 bucks for a bottle of wallpaper remover. Back to today...I have been putting primer on the walls. Marissa has taken on the more hazardous job of stripping the paint off the medicine cabinet. She has uncovered SIX layers of paint. Because we are concerned about lead exposure, we have been wearing special masks and Marissa is wearing goggles and protective gloves. Tomorrow, we will pull up the linoleum and then spray a mixture of Chlorox and water all over the floor to kill off any mildew. On Monday, the tile guy comes to do the "real" work. For your viewing pleasure, I have posted a BEFORE picture of the bathroom.

Another couple of interesting notes...

We found a bottle of Joel's teeth in the attic. Baby teeth and about four that were pulled by an orthodontist. When Aidan saw them, he demanded that Joel open his mouth so that he could view the missing teeth. We assured Aidan that they "grew back". Aidan is interested in growing teeth as Theo is currently growing two or more--his first!

Next, Joel first heard and then had Aidan demonstrate for me a new word that he picked up. This is not a word that I feel like repeating, but it starts with the letter "N". We know that Aidan has NOT picked up that word around our house. Joel is convinced that Aidan picked it up at school. If you are not already aware, Aidan attends First Baptist Child Development Center 3 days per week. We are going to discuss this with Aidan's teacher on Monday. For now, we are ignoring it so as not to bring attention to that word with the hope that Aidan will forget it. I have cautious hope that Aidan will never use that word in public. I would be mortified.

That is plenty for a first post. Hope that you enjoyed!!
