All About Aidan

Wednesday, we went to a birthday party for a couple of Aidan's classmates. Pinatas were strung up. There was one for the little girls to bat at and one for the little boys. The girls had theirs down within 5 minutes. The boys, however, had gone several rounds without making a dent in the orange triceratops. So the dads starting swinging. They too had difficulty, until our Daddy got in two good thwaps and down came the slain dinosaur! Yeah Daddy!!

Aidan earned 16 stickers at school last week. You have to earn at least 15 in one week to get a prize. His prize was a black pickup truck with a tailgate that actually opens and shuts. As I reported in the past, I have been embarrassed by Aidan's consistent lack of sticker earning at school. But I felt a little better after one of the moms at the birthday party revealed that her daughter earned only one sticker during an entire week. Apparently, Aidan has friends at the bottom of the bad behavior barrell at school.

All weekend, Aidan has been complaining about a "hurtie mouth". He has been drooling excessively and has difficulty eating and sleeping. He takes a bite of food and then starts to cry. We suspect that he has a sore throat or a canker sore. Joel and Marissa spent an agonizing amount of time trying to convince Aidan to open his mouth and stick out his tongue (at the same time) so that Joel could peer down his throat with a flashlight. Marissa used a comb as a tongue depressor. Aidan squirmed and wailed through the whole ordeal. Finally, Joel got his view. He then promptly shut off the flashlight, pursed his lips and said, "I don't know what to look for." Back to square one.
