Phase 10

Tonight, we had salmon grilled on cedar planks, polenta and this sour cream-green beans concoction that Marilyn made. The green beans were pretty good even though Marilyn insisted that they would taste better if they were French cut. I can't remember the name of the dish, but here is the recipe:

[Schnippel Green Beans]
1. Green beans, boiled until done. Slice the beans lengthwise.
2. Thinly slice onions and salt them to taste. Weight them down for a couple of hours with a bowl of water. Then squeeze out the onions to dry them up a bit.
3. Combine beans, onions, sour cream and white wine vinegar to taste. Don't be shy with the sour cream!
4. Serve cold.

Marissa surprised me with peach crisp made with leftover peaches from the Farmer's Market. She topped it with homemade whipped cream. Yum-yum!

Remember Phase 10? Our secretaries at work play it constantly. So I introduced it to the Atances, who have been avid players of hearts and spades otherwise. So-so reception on the Phase 10. Joel hates it because I won. I'll try and talk them into another game tomorrow night.

Joel has made some calls about the ceiling. Now we struggle with the questions that come up every time: How many ceiling guys should we interview before we choose one to do the job? Do we hire a 2 Guys and a Chisel outfit or a Bigtime Big Jobs, Inc outfit? What do we do if their cost estimates widely vary? Your thoughts?
