Meijer: The Land of Shopping Opportunity

One of the "Sign Posts of the North" as we drive up to Michigan from Roanoke is the first Meijer sighting. There is shiny brand new one just outside of Columbus, OH on 23. On our way back to Roanoke, we made a point to stop at it. The first thing we were offered was a Bob the Builder themed kids cart. Like other kid carts, it was shaped like a car. Unlike other kid carts, it was equipped with a tv on the inside that played 1/2 hour videos of Bob the Builder episodes. There were also carts for Barney and the Wiggles. As you can imagine, this cart was an instant hit with Aidan. We were lucky. They had just installed these carts and were giving the public a free trial period for the first week. After that, they were going to charge $1 per ride.

I attempted to place Theo in the cart next to Aidan, but that didn't fly b/c Theo kept blocking the view of the tv by slapping it repeated with his hands. Theo got kicked out of the car, but he got to ride on the penny pony though. Yep. They've kept the penny ponies. Marissa and I had blue moon ice cream cones. Everyone was happy...except Joel. He was grumpy about the general hygenic state of men's public restrooms. It was something he never thought about before until he had to start bringing Aidan into them. Aidan is obviously a short person. When he stands to pee, his balls have to rest on the lip of the toilet. We all know what the lip of the toilet of a public restroom looks like. This is true for women's restrooms too, but Joel insisted that it was better for Aidan to go into a woman's restroom than a man's. So guess who gets public potty duty until Aidan grows a couple of inches taller?
