Another reason to boycott WalMart (though I doubt we will)

The fam hopped into the van the other day and sped off to that great American institution that has given us cheap prices, cheap goods, and five of the top ten wealthiest Americans (hint: if your name's not Walton, you're not one of the five). The Skinny One can't got to places like this without making a beeline for the toy department, so off he went, guest blogger close in tow. He found some flashy, interlocking wheel toy that was designed for one-year olds, but obviously could appeal to all ages. He sat down right in the middle of the aisle and became hypnotized by all the moving parts. I turned my head but a second, and when I looked back at Bones, he was being pushed along the floor by a moving pallet loaded with boxes! Of course I had about 7 competing thoughts that popped into my head in the first 35 milliseconds, but the one that won out was to jump in front of the pallet and try to slow it down. Wasn't sure if there was a forklift behind it, but what could I do? Fortunately there was only an idiot pushing the dolly, so I was able to stop it. The guy was contrite, claimed he hadn't seen Aidan. I didn't even argue, because this fellow was obviously a few cans shy of a six-pack. But I was pretty heated, so I fetched a manager. The manager was polite and understanding, and said he'd take care of things. That's where I left it, but I wasn't entirely satisfied. How was a simpleton like that allowed to push pallets around the aisles of a crowded store like it was a warehouse? Did the manager know this was going on? The scariest part of all for me was thinking what could have happened had I not immediately turned around. The pallet was low to the ground so it may not have pulled Aidan under, but it could have. If this moron had continued pushing Aidan he would have rammed him right into the next stationary pallet at the end of the aisle. That could have done some damage. I guess all is well that ends well, but you have to shake your head sometimes.
